The Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Series

*The event has already taken place on this date: Mon, 01/17/2022
The Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Series was established in 1985 at Vanderbilt University. Commemorating King’s life and legacy, the university community gathers annually on this national holiday for a series of programs, including participation in the city-wide march, community service, educational forums and lectures. In honoring King, Vanderbilt University affirms its own commitment to the goals of peace and racial justice to which King dedicated his life.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic, the university is hosting a hybrid of virtual and in-person gatherings this year. Vanderbilt campus and community partners will offer a series of events between Jan. 14 and Jan. 17, 2022, around the theme “Where We Belong: Building the Beloved Community.”  Events are open to all Vanderbilt campus and community partners, unless noted. To support the health of our community, the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Keynote address will be hosted virtually on Jan. 17.
