This year's event spans two exciting days, both filled to brim with fun, festivities, and of course some of the best barbecue to boot! Both days will also feature a full line up of the greatest bluegrass bands in the region, including Lateral Blue, Grasskickers, Spur of the Moment Bluegrass, King Cotton, and Leipers Fork Bluegrass. There will also be live chainsaw carvings by Roark Phillips, a blacksmith, and the annual city-wide Cornhole Tournament. In addition to a number of activities and vendors throughout the park, a caricature artist and a balloon artist will be present and free to the public! The event will start on Friday, September 22nd at 5:30PM until 8:30PM and continue Saturday, September 23rd from 3:30PM until 8:00PM.
Make Your Voice Heard - The People's Choice is Back!
Why should the professionals have all the fun? On Friday, September 22nd at 6:00PM the City will be hosting the People's Choice Chicken Wing Competition! The first 50 people to purchase entry to this event will be tasting and voting on their favorite chicken wings as prepared by the many teams and vendors present. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a local charity! Entry tickets are $10 each and will be sold starting at 5:30PM at the Farmer's Market at Riverwalk Park, which is where the tasting will be held. Don't miss this chance to put your taste buds to work.
The Competition is Heating Up this Year!
The Muletown Bluegrass BBQ is a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned event. BBQ Team spots are limited to no more than 30. Be sure and register today to reserve your teams spot! Judging will be in the categories of ribs, chicken, and pork butt/shoulder. Cash prizes will be awarded from 1st to 5th place in each category. Grand Champion & Reserve Champion ($750 and $500 respectively and a trophy for each) will be awarded to teams that enter all three meats. This year's event features international competition.
