The Nashville Arbor Day Ceremony is a Metro tradition of honoring our city trees which provide beauty and homes for birds, cleans the air and mitigates stormwater. One part of the Ceremony involves students who participate in the Arbor Day contests to creatively write about trees or to produce tree themed art work. There are three student categories:

One part of the Ceremony involves students who participate in the Arbor Day contests to creatively write about trees or to produce tree themed art work. There are three student categories:

  1. Arbor Day Tree Art Exhibit - Nashville Elementary School Students
  2. Arbor Day Essay Contest - Nashville Middle School Students
  3. Arbor Day Poetry & Song Contest - Nashville High School Students

The entered art work will be on display and the winning essay and song or poem will be read by the student authors as part of the Ceremony. Another program highlight is the annual reading of Nashville’s Arbor Day Proclamation by Mayor Barry.
