We’re taking science out of the classroom and into the great outdoors!
Join us in an adventure to explore the Smokies, from the valleys of Cades Cove to the tallest mountains of the national park. During this week-long overnight summer camp, your child will work with scientists to search for salamanders and catch songbirds to support long-term research projects in the park. She’ll also swim in brisk mountain streams, share stories and smores around the campfire, and experience the joys of being a kid in the great outdoors.
In this six-day, five-night summer camp experience, campers will explore habitats throughout Great Smoky Mountains National Park and will conduct their own field investigation based on the topic they’re most excited about. Your child will get curious as she encounters new plants, animals, and ideas. Campers will practice thinking critically as they decide how to find answers to newly-formed questions, draw connections and identify patterns that open their eyes to the magic inner workings of nature, and develop relationships with others as they play and discover together.
Thanks to the contributions of generous donors, we are able to offer Girls in Science Camp on a sliding scale, starting at $100. The true cost of the camp is $829, which includes food, lodging, and instruction; we encourage families to contribute the greatest amount that feels comfortable to them. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we recommend applying early. All applications must be completed by May 31, 2023.
Ages: 12–15
Cost: $100-829, depending on financial need.
