Online Family Program: Ryman Auditorium Stained Glass Window Sensory Play

Wednesday, June 3; 3:30 p.m.–4:00 p.m.

Join a museum educator on FieldTripZoom to learn all about Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium and its importance to country music history. Inspired by the Ryman’s famous stained glass windows, design stained glass windows of your own. Use shaving cream and food coloring to create beautiful, washable painted windows right at home. First, create marbled stained glass paper to hang in a window. Next, learn how to safely and temporarily paint your windows to turn your home into the Ryman. Get ready for sensational sensory play. Recommended for ages four to ten with guardian, but all are welcome. Guardian is required to be present for children under thirteen.

Takes place via FieldTripZoom, no download needed. Space is limited. Registration required. Free. Click here to register.

Materials needed for marbled paper:

  • White paper (We will be using cardstock and parchment paper to show different effects, but many kinds of paper will work.)
  • Shaving cream
  • Food coloring
  • Toothpick or similar object to swirl designs (fingers work too!)
  • Ruler or similar object to scrape off shaving cream

Materials needed for window painting:

  • Shaving cream
  • Food coloring
  • Container for paint (We will be using a muffin tin.)
  • Paintbrush (optional)

Guardians are required to be present with participants under thirteen years old. By signing up for this program, you are confirming that a guardian will be present with youth under thirteen. An educator will send a FieldTripZoom invitation to you by 11:00 a.m. the morning of the program. Registration closes 24 hours before program time, and accommodations are guaranteed for museum members. Please reach out to familyfun@countrymusichalloffame.org if you have any questions.
