STEM+ Saturdays – Fall 2019

AVIATION & AEROSPACE: Sat, Oct 5 | 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Students will be introduced to women in various fields of aviation and aerospace, including pilots, engineers, air traffic controllers, airport managers and more. Girls also will engage in exciting hands-on activities such as flight simulation, aviation phonetics, a scavenger hunt and more. Lunch included.
WEATHER SCIENCE: Sat, Nov 2 | 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Students will learn about real-world weather phenomena. They will experiment with static electricity that causes lightning, make clouds right in the palms of their hands, build a desktop water cycle model, watch air currents that produce wind and study the greenhouse effect along with acid rain. Lunch included.
SPEEDOMETRY: Sat, Dec 7 | 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Students will deepen their understanding of potential and kinetic energy by observing, predicting, measuring and exploring the effect that the height of a ramp has on the transfer of energy to Hot WheelsⓇ cars using the Hot WheelsⓇ Speedometry curriculum. Lunch included.
