Museum visitors can create a velvet painting inspired by the Velvet Elvis craze of the 1970s using black velvet, pastels and black light paint. Velvet paintings, which originated in the Kashmir region of India and were popularized in Mexico, often featured animals, landscapes or musicians, and velvet paintings of Country Music Hall of Fame member Elvis Presley are still the most well-known version of this art form.
