*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 04/16/2016
Hands on History classes are offered throughout the year at The Carter House and Carnton Plantation. This activity-based class is for children ages 5 - 12 who want to experience history where it happened! Reservations are required and the cost is $15/child. Please contact Angell Wallace at (615) 794-0903 or angell@boft.org.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Children will have the opportunity to do their own archeological dig at Carnton! All of the items they will be looking for are authentic and of the time period when the McGavock family lived in the home.  They will also be able to take home one of their very own Civil War items they find.  After the dig, we will have a scavenger hunt of the grounds.  So much can be learned about the grounds, outbuildings and cemetery.  On this day children will take home much more than an artifact.  They will take home a piece of our American history.
