Junior Master Gardener Camp is a five day camp beginning June 1 and ending June 5 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm daily held at Historic Mansker's Station.
The Junior Master Gardener program is designed for children in grades 3 to 5. It is modeled after the highly successful Master Gardener program and offers hands-on fun and creative activities. The topic for the week of camp is Ecology and Environmental Horticulture. Campers will find out and learn that they have a responsibility to take care of the environment and this wonderful planet that is our home.
By participating in Sumner County’s Junior Master Gardener Camp, your child is participating in an international youth gardening program sponsored in Sumner County by the University of Tennessee Cooperative Extension network. JMGC engages children in novel, “hands-on” group and individual learning experiences. Activities encourage children to explore their world while fostering a love of gardening, and an appreciation for the environment.
Using materials from Texas A&M, we've designed our camp to give your child an exciting and enriching summer experience under the supervision of trained and experienced leadership. Our leaders, who are members of the Sumner County Master Gardener's Association, along with staff from the City of Goodlettsville, have committed their time and talents to this endeavor.
Camp is limited to 20 students at a cost of $75 per student for all five days. Campers should check in thru the Visitor's Center. Each camper will receive a Junior Master Gardener T-shirt on their first day of camp, and the t-shirt will be worn each day of camp.
