Southern Stars 14 Weeks of Summer Camp

COME JOIN SOUTHERN STARS PRESCHOOL SUMMER CAMP 2023 AND EXPLORE SCIENCE IN A FUN AND EDUCATIONAL CAMP! WITH DIFFERENT THEMES EVERY WEEK THAT COMPLEMENTS OUR STEM-HEAVY MONTESSORI CURRICULUM BOTH INSIDE OUR CLASSROOMS AND IN OUR LARGE BACKYARD, ALL SUMMER LONG. Build your summer camp experience to suit your needs with 14 weeks of Science Experiments, Outdoor Exploration, and Lots of Outdoor Fun every child will LOVE!

WEEK 1: OUT OF THIS WORLD

We create “moon paintings”, and study the planets orbiting the sun. The planet song, building a rocket ship, and marble painting planets are some of the fun activities for this week!

WEEK 2: UP IN THE AIR

Airplanes, Helicopters, and hot air balloons! We explore all the ways to travel in the air!

WEEK 3: ALL ABOUT ANIMALS 

Animal cracker counting (in the most safe way!). We will be learning about animal movements and their environments, and fun animal exercises and yoga poses.

WEEK 4: UNDER THE SEA

Our friends explore what is below the ocean’s surface with Jellyfish bead counting, writing in the sand, making crabs, and
fishing with pipe cleaners! We also have a salt water density experiment that shows the difference between the ocean and our drinking water.

WEEK 5: LEGOMANIA

It's never too soon to start building the foundations for friendship and cooperation! This week, we will embrace the concept of sharing and taking turns with others. Our little builders will be using Legos to explore math, language, and sensorial areas.  

WEEK 6: 1,2,3 COUNT WITH ME

Our focus this week is one to one correspondence, simple addition/subtraction, and basic multiplication/division  (grouping)

WEEK 7: SENSORY EXPLORATION

Seeing, touching, tasting, smelling, and hearing are the most common senses that we use everyday! Have you ever heard of the streognistic sense?  The stereognostic sense is the capability of recognising an object without seeing it, hearing it, smelling it, or tasting it! We will be conducting taste and smell tests and exploring our mystery box. OR Blindfold drawings, mystery sound eggs, scented Playdough, taste tests, and homemade finger paint, touch scavenger hunt and five senses matching are all part of the exploration of our senses.

WEEK 8: FUN WITH PHONICS

A for apple, B for ball, C for Camp is so much fun! We be learning the phonetic letter sounds, working with the moveable alphabet, and learn to sound out three and four letter words!

WEEK 9: CRAZY CHEMISTRY

Lots of fun chemistry this week including: making foaming slime,creating and measuring giant bubbles, and catalyst and enzyme science experiments

WEEK 10: FUN WITH PHYSICS

This week we will learn about  matter and its motion as well as how it interacts with energy and forces! The Bernoulli experiment, rainbow density experiment, and ice boat racing are some of the fun activities for this week!

WEEK 11:  ARTISTIC WONDERS

Our friends experiment with all types of art mediums. We finger paint, dot paint, use watercolors, and paint on outdoor mediums.. Our friends also use clay and make collages. We learn about artists, plus make our own “masterpieces.”

WEEK 12: AROUND THE WORLD

We will be learning simple phrases in languages from countiries around the world! We will also be exploring cultures and cuisines and learning about their flags!

WEEK 13: CREEPY CRAWLERS

We start the week with our “bug or not” chart, counting caterpillars, and completing a butterfly experiment. We have our own “city” nature walk and lots of fun snacks like “ants on a log”.

WEEK 14: LITTLE BUILDERS

This week is all about tractors, digging, creating, and building! Our litter builders will be constructing masterpieces of their own, while we learn all about construction workers and what they do!
