Stitching History

Join us this summer in either the beginner or advanced Stitching History camp. Bring your creative minds as you work on a variety of projects that highlight the historic design of the past.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Enjoy sewing? (Or think you might?) Campers will learn about fashions from the 1820s and 30s and the importance of hand sewing in the life of people, particularly women, of that time. A tour of the house will introduce the many examples of hand sewing in the Travellers Rest collection. Beginners will learn both basic sewing stitches and decorative embroidery stitches; they will have the opportunity to make a needle book, pin cushions, and reticules (drawstring bags).
