Stitching History (Beginners)

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 06/02/2023
Enjoy sewing? (Or think you might?) Campers will learn about fashion from the 1820s and 30s and the importance of hand sewing in the life of people, particulary women, of that time. A tour of the house will introduce the many examples of hand sewing in the Travellers Rest collection. Beginners will learn both basic sewing stitches and decorative embroidery stitches; they will have the opportunity to make and needle book, pin cushions and reticules (drawstring bags). Advance stitching campers will have the oppurtunity to design their own samplers, make a rag doll or sewing kit.
