Stitching History for Beginners
Ages 7 - 14. Campers will learn about the importance of hand sewing, particularly for women, 200 years ago. Campers will learn basic sewing stitches as well as some decorative embroidery stitches. They will construct a pin cushion, needle book and/or a draw string bag.

For ages 7 - 14. Campers will learn about the importance of hand sewing, particularly for women, 200 years ago. We will see examples of both fashions of the time as well as the day-to-day items made for the home; we will be looking at the many interesting items we have in the historic home and our collection. Children will make a pin custion, needle book and/or a reticule, a draw string purse popular in the early to mid 1800s. At the end of the week we will show off our creations at a cookie and tea reception.
