Winter Woods Wonderland
Sharp Springs Natural Area (Jefferson Pike entrance)

Get out of the house and join us for an interactive hike through the winter woods! We’ll search for animal tracks, homes and other signs of creatures that inhabit the winter forests. While we’re at it, we’ll learn something about the forests themselves and create art with leaves.
All ages welcome. Event is canceled if it rains.

Furry Friends

What does a mink’s fur really feel like? How about an otter? Join us to find out what the fur of different animals feels like and learn some cool stuff about furbearers!

Birding for Beginners
Smyrna Town Centre (Parks office, 100 Sam Ridley Parkway East) home of the Future Smyrna Outdoor Adventure Center
Note: All ages welcome. Bring binoculars if you have them.
Did you know that the best time to start learning about bird identification is in the Winter? It is in Middle Tennessee! We’ll take a walk in the woods and tally all the birds we see and hear. Then we’ll go back into the warm Town Centre to play some Bird Bingo and make winter bird feeders. A great way to spend a late December morning!

Just because it’s Winter doesn’t mean we can’t play outside! Plan to join us for a morning of wildlife-themed games, followed by simple refreshments.
