Built in 1918 by E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company and the federal government as a factory town for the world's largest smokeless gun powder plant, Old Hickory Village is tucked away along Hadley’s Bend on the Cumberland River. Today the neighborhood is home to a vibrant, tight-knit front porch community, maintaining much of its original charm. Villagers can shop the weekly farmers market, check out books from the local library, lend a hand in the community garden, take a stroll down to the marina, and much more.
